Iga Świątek has not played any official matches recently due to a rib injury. However, the world No. 1 has resumed training on clay, as the clay court season begins. Fans of the Polish player, who excels on this surface, may be missing her matches. Perhaps Andy Murray is feeling the same, as he admitted in an interview with Eurosport that he loves watching her in action.

All fans are eagerly awaiting Iga Świątek’s return to play following her rib injury. “I’ll let you know which tournament I’ll play next because it depends on my recovery process and the recommendations of my medical team. I have the best team behind me, so we just need some time to deal with it. It’s a very difficult decision, but health comes first. Despite these challenges, I’m grateful that this is the first health issue I’ve had in a long time and that I’ve been able to compete fully fit for so long. But that’s sport. Sometimes things happen beyond our control. It’s time to accept it and get back to full health as soon as possible,” she wrote in an official statement on March 22.

According to Tomasz Wiktorowski, she is expected to compete in the Stuttgart tournament (April 15-23). Let’s not forget that she withdrew from the Miami Open and the Billie Jean King Cup. The Polish player has already begun training on clay—the part of the season on her favorite surface has arrived.

Andy Murray is certainly pleased with this turn of events. When asked in an interview with Eurosport which tennis players he enjoys watching the most, Świątek was among the four he highlighted. “I love watching her. She moves so well on the court,” the Scotsman told Eurosport, also praising her topspin shots with their unique ball trajectory. He also mentioned Emma Raducanu. “I always watch her matches whenever I can, but I love watching Świątek,” he said.
