In recent months, anti-doping regulations have broken tennis stars Jannik Sinner and Iga Świątek. Both were cleaned of guilt, but there was anxiety in the tennis environment. “I don’t know how I can trust the system,” said Aryna Sabalenka.
Jannik Sinner’s doping case ended a few days ago. His body was detected in clostebol last year. The leader of the world ranking adopted the following line of defense – the forbidden substance was in the ointment, which was used by his (exerc) physiotherapist. The tennis player made a deal with WADA, and the result is a three-month suspension.
Previously, Iga Świątek also had problems – after she was detected with trace concentrations of trimetazidine. This was the result of taking contaminated melatonin. The Polish woman was also cleansed due to her fault, and in her case the suspension lasted a month.
Cases of the Italian and Polish women caused concern among other players. Aryna Sabalenka, the leader of the world ranking, admitted that Sinner’s situation forced her to be more cautious. One thing he doesn’t do anymore.
