It was a three-hour war of nerves in the Qatari capital! Magda Linette, despite the fact that she lost 0:3 in the first set, managed to make up for the losses and beat her compatriot Magdalena Fręch 7:5, 5:7, 6:4 in the match of the second round of the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Doha. Tuesday’s meeting was full of twists and teammates of the Polish women competed fiercely from the first to the last ball. Now Linette will face the Ukrainian, who defeated the American star in the second round.

Magda Linette entered Tuesday’s clash after a good match in the first round, in which she defeated the favored Russian Wieronik Kudiermiet. Fręch, who was also doomed to defeat, defeated Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia.

Linette, 32, and the 27-year-old Fręch faced each other twice before Tuesday’s duel. Their first clash in 2022 was won by Magdalena Fręch in three sets after nearly three hours of battle.

Two years later, the rematch was taken by Linette and it was during the final match of the tournament in Prague, where she smoothly beat her compatriot in two sets. Their third clash, like the first, turned out to be very fierce.
