There were no surprises in Saturday’s WTA 250 semi-finals on the hard courts in Austin. Jessica Pegula, the top-placed McCartney Kessler, will compete for the championship in the Texas capital.

As the first promotion to the final of the ATX Open 2025, the highest-placed Jessica Pegula (WTA 4) won. The American needed three sets to win against Ayla Tomljanović (WTA 111). Awarded with a wild card, the Australian woman put tougher conditions, but the US representative triumphed after nearly two hours 6:1, 4:6, 6:3.

Every final is new. Because I play here for the first time, I like to do well and I always want to show that I’m one of the best American women on tour and one of the best players in the world. The possibility of doing this on your native soil is always something special,” Pegula said.

Peguli was McCartney Kessler (WTA 56). Set with the fifth number, she defeated the Belgian Greet Minnen (WTA 92) in two sets. Both parties were even, but in the final stage the representative of the hosts was more effective. It was she who finally won after an hour and 34 minutes 7:5, 6:4.

Thus, on Sunday, the first American final will take place as part of the competition in Austin. Pegula and Kessler have not played together in the main cycle yet. The current fourth rocket will fight for the seventh trophy in a women’s tour. Her lower-ranking compatriot is aiming for the third title.

The winner of the ATX Open tournament will receive 250 ranking points and a cheque of $36,300.
