In response to contentious remarks by Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker last month, globally acclaimed singer Katy Perry has strongly countered with her own message. During a commencement address at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas on May 11, Butker stirred significant controversy with statements that were criticized as homophobic, antisemitic, misogynistic, and sexist.

Notably, he suggested that female graduates should aspire to be “homemakers.”

Three weeks following Butker’s speech, Katy Perry took to Instagram to share a creatively edited version of his remarks. This revised video carried an empowering message aimed at women and the LGBTQ+ community.

Alongside the video, Perry added a caption that encapsulated her support: “fixed this for my girls, my graduates, and my gays — you can do anything, congratulations and happy pride ️‍️‍⚧️ ”.

The featured portion of Perry’s rendition of the speech conveyed an uplifting sentiment: “How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you’re going to get in your career? I would venture to guess the women here today are going to lead successful careers in the world.”

In related news: NFL enthusiasts believe Taylor Swift harshly criticized Harrison Butker following his contentious remarks. Perry’s post on Instagram has garnered upwards of 146,000 likes.

Butker’s statements have sparked significant public outrage, prompting demands for the Chiefs to part ways with the experienced kicker. A petition hosted on Change.org calling for his release has amassed over 228,000 signatures since its inception on May 13.
